G Suite for Education is a series of cloud-based tools and utilities that are offered free of charge through NSW Department of Education student log-in. It offers a range of online storage, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and communication tools that are seamlessly integrated with a wide range of other cloud-tools.
At the heart of the platform is Google Classroom, the living breathing online classroom where class assessments, homework and broader classroom discussion can happen outside of regular class time, and that discussion can be between students and the teacher. With Google Classroom lost work, sheets, or missed lessons are a thing of the past as students are able to interact online through the student portal, or through the mobile application for their mobile device.
The incredibly versatile and collaborative environment that is fostered through Google Classroom, and all of the G Suite for Education apps offers enhanced learning environments, and research has shown that collaborative online tools have a greater impact on educational outcomes than technology alone can. This collaboration extends to the teacher and their ability to give fast, detailed and meaningful feedback to work being completed, giving students the best possible opportunities for growth in their learning.
Further to this, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drawing automatically save all of your work with a detailed history of any changes that have been made and who has made them. This means that you never have to worry about losing that great idea or being afraid of the battery running out as your work will always be up-to-date. The huge benefit to this is that it means your work is available anywhere, from any device, all the time. Should you forget your device, just log-in to a loan device or school desktop and all your data will appear as you left it.
Simply log-in to your student portal, use the left navigation shortcuts to select LEARNING and select G SUITE FOR EDUCATION. From there you'll find everything you need.
